Driving to Riverton

We woke to really freezing temperatures this morning and set out for Riverton, WY. I was excited to see the Wind River Mountains from the East side, since I have only ever seen them from the Jackson Hole side... But no luck. I saw my first ever Sun Dog but only got one picture:

We also saw many, many deer and moose downtown, including this one:
Moose Breakfast

Then we headed for Riverton, and the road took us along much of the Oregon Trail and South Pass, the area where the Willie Handcart Company was stranded by an early storm. My great-great-great grandmother was with the Martin Handcart Company and told the story of what happened to them. I would like to see this place sometime, but it seemed poignantly appropriate that this is what we saw today (cell phone photo while I drove):

It was a long day, and I am tired. I will add more tour excitement updates tomorrow.
