Cody, Wyoming

Well, I didn't quite get the post done for Riverton. We had a great Sunday. We went to church at Fort Washakie on the Wind River Reservation, which has an amazing history. It is the burial spot of Sacajawea, and we ate lunch with her great-great grandson. We met a wonderful group of Shoshone and Arapahoe, and many of their white neighbors. After Sacrament Meeting, I went to Primary, as I have been missing my cute class since we moved, and we taught the kids the sign language to "Go My Son." They were so proud and wanted to perform it for the whole branch when we were having lunch together.
Go My Son
The land was beautiful, just at the base of the Wind River mountains, with rolling Wyoming hills and the river basin. We did a fireside in the evening, which is always great, but I feel unusually "white" with this group-- there have always been a few Argentine girls who are as white as me, but I am truly the only fat blonde chick up there, and I know people are looking at me, wondering what kind of "Living Legend" I am. The group is so nice about having me there, but I just feel a little too conspicuous among that group of extremely beautiful black-haired dancers. And when we started singing "Love is Spoken Here" about the mother and everything, well, let's just say that there was weeping. Uncontrollable weeping from the one who stands out the most. Oh well...
The drive to Cody today was pleasant, through the Wind River Canyon, and up the mountains across the East side of Yellowstone. I haven't ever been to Cody, since my relation to Yellowstone has always been at the West or South entrance, but I may have to come this way again. It is a charming town. It is a beautifully restored old western town, and all the new buildings fit into that style. I bought a horsehair hat band for my black cowboy hat during the 10 minutes we were outside the theatre. It is a balmy 45 degrees here now at 11:00 pm. You can't ask for more than that in January.
I must rest. We are going to the Buffalo Bill museum complex in the morning for a few hours before we drive to Lovell. I am told this is the "Smithsonian of the West." I do love museums. Too bad we only get 2 hours.

Lovell. That's where my Brother-in-law is from. Enjoy it, and it's suburb, Grey Bull! (Grable.)
