I hereby officially announce that I LOVE Dane Cook. This is, due to the adult nature of his comedy, probably not something I should tout. But I can't help myself. His delivery is in a class by itself, his subject matter is original and accessible, and his even the sound of his voice makes me giggle a little.
The first time I really listened to Dane was driving with Tim in our little Opel Meriva throught the Black Forest. I bought some little speakers for my iPod and Tim and I huddled close and listened to Retaliation. I am going to be honest: we almost crashed. I was laughing so hard that I started to hyperventilate and I was CRYING with laughter, I pulled something in the abdominal region... I was literally in FITS of laughter. In the cold rain, I almost crashed from LAUGHING. And it is the sort of thing where you are laughing so hard because you can't believe you are laughing at something so absolutely ridiculous. And I will also mention that it was ONLY because of Dane Cook that I was willing to buy a ticket to something like Employee of the Month. I giggled the first time he talked, just because I love to hear his voice. The movie was not nearly as terrible as I had prepared myself for, and I thought he was charming.
So there you have my shameless adoration of Dane Cook. When you understand the beauty of Su-Fi, The CT 2004, BK Lounge, and s**t on or in the vicinity of the coats, let me know. Dreamy.
A home for randomness, ranting, and rambling. I have always wanted a home where anyone and everyone is welcome to come and be who they really are. This is the virtual space for that same vibe-- I'm sharing who I am, no filter. Does any of it matter? Maybe not. But, if in any way you feel like you are welcome here, then that's all that I want.

September, Part II
The continuation of My Month in Pictures begins now:
My sister Katie was inspired to put together a team to participate in the Walk for Diabetes. Our team was named "The D.C. Riggs Avengers," and we walked in honor of my dad. We raised quite a bit of money, considering that it was our first foray into fundraising. And next year, we're doing the LONG walk instead of the wimpy two-miler.
The D. C. Riggs Avengers
And hopefully Emily will wear the same outfit:
Who wears short shorts?
One of the next September activities was the 29th annual celebration of Katie's birth. We could hold the celebration more often, but that would be overkill and every other person on the earth would be jealous. This year's festivities involved delicious snacks, and an improvement on a Riggs family favorite: movies in the backyard. We have be known, on many an occasion, to carry the TV outside to enjoy movies under the stars. In the "olden days" of the Yellow House, each full moon in the summer heralded the backyard watching of "Moonstruck." We have taken the TV to South Fork Park, and other outdoor locales. Well, in honor of Katie, this tradition was taken to a new, and very addictive level. Elliott et al set up a "screen" in the back yard, set up a video projector, and (now this was a stroke of genius) inflated their new river-running boat, creating a lovely backyard movie theatre. Who'd have thought that the sideways raft would make such a great seating area?
Movie Night
Strictly Ballroom in the Yard
Movies Ahoy!
The next September event is a lovely segue into this month: Oktoberfest at Snowbird. We ate cheap knockoff German food, some indulged in the Liquid German Gold (okay, "some" means everyone but me...), and, most importantly, danced the Chicken Dance and Hokey Pokey to the music of a live Polka band. Nothing better.
Herzlich Wilkommen beim Oktoberfest!

My MONTH in pictures
It's okay to update my blog while I watch conference, right? And I'm Tivo-ing in case I miss something. I love that "to Tivo" is a verb, and one that I use. I digress.
I have finally downloaded the latest photos from my camera. Now each of these events really merits its own entry, and perhaps some day that will happen. For now, I will just add some photos and go from there.
Okay. The first photos are from an amazing afternoon I spent on the Beartooth Highway with sweet David. If you leave the Northeast entrance of Yellowstone, you end up on the Beartooth. The highway itself goes to the top of the mountains, above the treeline, into miles of glacial morraine, tundra, hundreds of lakes, and views that are unbelieveable. We were there on a day that was smokey and surreal. The air was thick with grey smoke, yet the views were still breathtaking. It added to the creepiness and feeling of being on the way to Mordor... The Beartooth itself is other-worldly. I cannot wait to return on a clear day. We took most of the pictures with Dave's camera, so they will get posted someday. But for now, here are a few to whet your appetite for a roadtrip (invite me-- I'm a great roadtripper).
Alpine Lake
Waterfall at "the Footbridge" (our name for it...)
Below the falls
Smokey Sunset
Okay: next on the Month's activity list was a trip to the Utah State Fair. I love the fair. I have written about this. I love fair food, and this year's ad campaign brought tears of joy to my eyes. If you didn't see the ads, check them out here.
Anyway... to be perfectly honest, our very rainy evening at the fair was quite a disappointment, HOWEVER, a night at the fair (even in the rain) is better than a night NOT at the fair. Here are some of those photos:
Tim eats a turkey leg
Meeting the locals
Howdy, Folks!
That will have to do for now. There is more. Oh, so much more, but you will have to wait. Here is a thought: do you think the water pressure in Utah drops after the Morning session of conference when everyone who was a late-riser gets in the shower at the same time?
