A home for randomness, ranting, and rambling. I have always wanted a home where anyone and everyone is welcome to come and be who they really are. This is the virtual space for that same vibe-- I'm sharing who I am, no filter. Does any of it matter? Maybe not. But, if in any way you feel like you are welcome here, then that's all that I want.

Pirate Hooker?!?!
I was just called "pirate hooker" in a text message from someone who we will call Gorilla. All I'm saying is: 1- thank you, I think, and 2- that is now, by far, a favorite epithet of mine. And this from someone who for years was greeted by the pet name "Whore [insert slight tug at hair with right hand here]" by friends and family alike. And also, Gorilla, I think this is the 3rd entry where you have been mentioned by name? Not to make dearest Jenine (who is my heroine) jealous-- I know it is because of you that Gorilla uses vocabulary such as "pirate hooker." Yeah, right! I will cry until you come back from Lake Powell, my sweet babies!!

My Map of the World
I have given into social blogging pressure, and will now include a map of the world showing the countries I've visited, and a map of the U.S. showing the states I have visited. You can make your own, too, and jump on the popularity bandwagon.

Obviously, the Northern Hemisphere is winning, although geographically, South Africa is as far from Utah as you can get...
As far as the states go, I really have nothing against the Dakotas, and what up with the "islands" of Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Hawaii? How have I missed them? Don't worry... I'm coming.

Bienvenue, Sophie Neveau
Dad got a new puppy. He was lonely when my doggies came to live with me, and lasted just about a month before he needed a dog. Enter: Sophie Neveau, named, of course, for the heroine of The Davinci Code. She is a tea-cup sized ball of terror. And about as precious as can be. She is part Boston Terrier and part Sneaky Neighbor's Dog. I vote Border Collie. She and dad are inseparable, but she did a spend an afternoon with my dogs and I. This is the proof:
Looking For Kiste's Corndog Tail
A Moment of Quiet
A Quick Snooze
Naptime on the Couch
The Black & Whites Rest on the Couch Check out how their cute little legs are intertwined...
The Demon from Hell Examine the glimpse of The Devil which has emerged from the otherwise innocent-looking little ball of fluff... the fangs have come out, and dear Max is so patient, but I fear that at some point he will let her know that enough is enough.
So welcome, Mon Petit Sophie. She is going to be a handfull, but so charming that I am sure we will put up with it.

I am still alive...
It was pointed out to me today that it has been quite a while since I posted. True, true. This is because nothing truly interesting ever happens to me. Not that that has prevented any of the previous posts...
I found that my previous My Week in Pictures was an easy way to fill cyberspace, so perhaps I will try that again a little tonight. But it is more than a week. So deal with it.
Grandma watching Sunset
This is just one of the beautiful sunsets we have had recently. This is in my backyard
Kiste and Max
This is Kiste and Max showing off their 4th of July bandanas... How paw-triotic.
Grandma watching Fireworks
Grandma obviously does a lot of watching... We went to Stadium of Fire (which I lovingly call "Stadium of Poo," which is best sung as loudly as possible when in the car with Katie in order to annoy her as much as possible...)
Taylor Hicks on the Jumbotron
This is just to show that the current American Idol sucks even more when he's the size of a house. The size of his image is proportional to how much he SHOULDN'T have won.
Allison, Katie, and Me at Indigo Girls
This is us at Indigo Girls on Sunday... Fantastic concert... Look for my upcoming entry "Yes, you can be a fan of Indigo Girls, drive a jeep, have dogs, and NOT be a lesbian..." And no, I don't always wear that straw hat... just when there is sun involved.
The Indigo Girls
I have mentioned before how much I love the music of the Indigo Girls. This was a really great concert, we had fun, they played most of my favorites, and the night was GORGEOUS.
So there you have it. Let's see... any other news? I got new fancy Hawaiian seat covers for my jeep. They are summery. I got phone calls 2 days in a row from Germany, which makes one feel very important and that made me smile. It is Jake's birthday (Happy Birthday, Jracob). Amy will be coming home soon. Not soon enough, but soon. And Max and Kiste got their dog teethies brushed tonight so I can stand to sleep with them since they now have vanilla mint breath instead of dead-things-are-in-your-mouth breath. Also, my big (and really, only) purchase of the week was 4 plastic lawn chairs. So I cordially invite the first 3 takers over to sit in my backyard with me!! I will feed you popsicles.
